Writing.....

I have always wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. My imagination has been vivid since I was child and the only thing that comes to mind is write that down into a story right away! I love to write about anything, really. I have been writing short stories since I was about 10, I would say. As I got older, I even started working on actual novels. I wrote a whole manuscript, too. I think it’s around 60,000 words, something like that. Anyway, I wrote it when I was in high school so it is pretty childish and it’s not that great, in my opinion. I have others in progress but I just feel like I need to grow up and experience “life” before I write novels. I don’t know enough about the world to make them really great.

I can’t wait to graduate and be out in the real world and be a real reporter. It seems scary but all too exciting at the same time. I just want to be extremely successful and be known for my writing. I want to make a difference in this world.

After I do some reporting and journalism for a while, I want to start working on novels. I want to be on “The New York Times Bestseller” list. I want to write as many books as my life expectancy will allow me to. I would like to write fiction novels, mostly about love stories and mystery/suspense novels. I just want to write for the rest of my life. I love writing so much that I almost can’t believe you can make a living out of being a writer. It seems too good to be true.

So from this class, I would like to gain more knowledge about writing, writing good information, how to come up with ideas of what to write, what the people want to hear, everything. Most of all, I just want to become a stronger, more knowledgeable writer.

That is a noble calling.

I have a friend who makes a living writing fiction books. The publishing world isn't great, let me tell you. A national best-seller is only 100,000 copies sold. That's about a fourth of the population of Sacramento - spread out across the nation.

But doing what you love is better than being rich, right? Never stop if it's what you love :)
